Market Tracking
Core Metrics
Challenge
A leading provider of open source software solutions wanted to better understand its competitive position in a rapidly evolving market and identify opportunities to strengthen brand awareness, customer adoption, and market share.
Approach
Management Insight Technologies developed an ongoing Core Metrics research program to track competitive positioning, brand health, market adoption, category perceptions, messaging effectiveness, and marketing performance. The recurring study established consistent benchmarks to monitor changes in customer attitudes and competitive dynamics over time.
Outcome
The research provided the client with a comprehensive view of its brand's strengths and opportunities relative to competitors, enabling more effective messaging, improved market positioning, and data-driven marketing strategies that supported continued growth in the open source software market.
Customer Strategy
Strategy and Perceptions
Challenge
A leading technology company sought to measure and track how target audiences perceive their cloud platform across key strategic areas, including generative AI, data and analytics, migration and modernization, security, and cloud infrastructure. The client needed statistically valid, recurring data to understand how perceptions shift over time across a diverse set of global audiences, and to identify areas for improvement.
Approach
Management Insight Technologies conducted a large-scale, recurring perceptions tracker across 11 countries in the US, Western Europe, and Asia. Each wave included 2,600 respondents made up of Technical Decision Makers, Business Decision Makers, and Hands-On Builders. Quantitative data was collected via online survey and measured both scale and single-select perceptions across multiple cloud providers. In addition to the quantitative survey, 10 in-depth interviews were conducted each wave to provide qualitative context and deeper exploration of respondent perceptions.
Outcome
The study delivered a comprehensive, wave-over-wave view of how perceptions of the client’s cloud platform evolved across audiences, regions, roles, organization types, and levels of cloud adoption. Findings highlighted areas of meaningful perception growth, identified sub-audiences where the client held stronger or weaker standings relative to competitors, and surfaced actionable themes for improving positioning across each strategic focus area. Results were delivered through both a detailed report and an interactive dashboard.
Pricing Research
Pricing & Packaging
Challenge
A provider of a consumable technology product needed to understand market adoption potential and price elasticity for a new distribution model. The client wanted to identify the optimal combination of pricing and program features to maximize customer adoption across multiple international markets.
Approach
ManManagement Insight Technologies designed a pricing study using an adaptive choice-based conjoint (ACBC) methodology to evaluate customer preferences for alternative price points and program features. The research measured trade-offs between key attributes and compared preferences across multiple countries to inform market-specific strategies.
Outcome
Management Insight Technologies developed a market simulator that enabled the client to model adoption under a variety of pricing and distribution scenarios. The simulator's forecasts ultimately predicted actual market uptake within 2% of observed adoption, providing confidence in the client's go-to-market strategy.
Product Research
Concept Testing
Challenge
A leading technology company sought to evaluate customer interest in an Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) solution and understand how the concept resonated with target audiences. The client wished to assess the solution's perceived value, clarify positioning, and identify potential barriers to adoption before launch.
Approach
Management Insight Technologies conducted a concept testing study to evaluate customer reactions to the Event-Driven Architecture offering. The research measured overall appeal, relevance, perceived benefits, uniqueness, purchase intent, and message clarity, while exploring customer needs, use cases, and factors influencing adoption.
Outcome
The study provided actionable insights into how customers perceived the Event-Driven Architecture concept, identifying the features and benefits that resonated most strongly, as well as areas requiring clearer communication. The findings helped refine product positioning, strengthen messaging, and guide go-to-market strategy prior to launch.
Customer Strategy
Customer Journey
Challenge
A major internet infrastructure provider wanted to better understand the customer journey throughout the business creation process, identifying the key decision points, pain points, and unmet needs that influenced customer acquisition and long-term engagement.
Approach
Management Insight Technologies designed a comprehensive customer journey study that mapped the end-to-end experience, from initial business planning and provider evaluation through account setup, implementation, and ongoing service use. The research combined journey mapping with feedback on customer expectations, decision drivers, barriers, and satisfaction across each stage of the experience.
Outcome
The study provided the client with a detailed view of the customer journey, highlighting opportunities to improve the onboarding experience, refine customer communications, and address friction points throughout the business creation process. The insights informed customer experience enhancements and supported more effective engagement strategies across the lifecycle.
Pricing Research
Pricing & Packaging
Challenge
A life sciences division of a leading technology company wanted to optimize the pricing and packaging of a computational biology solution. The client sought to understand which capabilities were most valued by computational biologists and determine the pricing and package configurations that would maximize customer appeal and commercial success.
Approach
Management Insight Technologies designed a pricing and packaging study that combined qualitative feedback with quantitative analysis. The research included a MaxDiff exercise to prioritize the relative importance of product features and capabilities, along with an evaluation of alternative package structures, pricing scenarios, and purchase drivers.
Outcome
The study identified the features that delivered the greatest customer value, enabling the client to develop pricing and packaging aligned with customer preferences. The findings informed feature prioritization, optimized package design, and supported a data-driven pricing strategy that strengthened the product's competitive position and market potential.
